Hello Deadsiders!

First off we apologise that so much time has passed since the last update. We have a small one planned for tomorrow (Thursday the 5th at 11:00AM CET / 4AM CST) that will simply end the seasonal new years event. We would also like to get everyone up to speed on the state of development, and the estimated timeframe for updates as of today.

⚠️Servers may be temporarily unavailable during the update deployment window⚠️

The reason why you haven’t heard much console news is that the team has been busy on two major time consuming tasks; porting over version 1.7, and porting over the Modkit to consoles. Getting the Modkit working for consoles has been a time consuming task that requires complex R&D. That made it very difficult for us in the beginning to tell how long R&D would take, or if porting the Modkit was possible to begin with. On top of that, versions 1.7 and 1.6 are large updates with big features that take time to port over as well.

Right now the estimated timeframe is to release version 1.7 to console sometime in February. We will continue working on the console Modkit so that we can make it available as soon as possible. We are more confident now that the Modkit will be released soon, but we won’t be able to say exactly when until it passes review. With large technical tasks it’s always possible that an unforeseen issue pops up requiring lots more dev time. In any case, we will update the community on our progress.

We are very hopeful and excited to deliver some good news soon. Porting over the Modkit to consoles is going to greatly expand the possibilities there. For those of you who have been following our socials, you may have already seen the insane things modders have been making on PC. As an added bonus, the experience and documentation provided from PC modders already exists, allowing console modders to quickly become familiar with the program.

Once the Modkit has been ported over to Console, we expect the pace of porting PC updates to console to improve. The Modkit makes fundamental changes to the game itself to function, and having that difference between the two versions would only make things more complex over time. If you haven’t seen version 1.7 and 1.8, you can read through their PC posts on Steam. With these major updates along with the Modkit on the horizon, 2026 is looking to be an exciting year for console Deadside!

Thanks for reading, we hope to bring you more news soon!
