Hello Console Deadsiders!
Some very exciting news for you today, version 1.8 is coming to consoles on Monday at 11:00AM CEST!
This means you will be jumping from version 1.5.9 straight into 1.8, nearly three updates in one with tons of content. You can expect new guns like the cross vector and the R-12, along with new modifications like AR and SMG suppressors. Gameplay mechanics have been improved or expanded upon, a major one being crafting with many new workbenches to play with. Best of all, no wipe needed!
In this post we will overview all the major features included, with full patch notes at the bottom. It's one of our longest lists yet!
Update 1.8 Content:
First lets cover the new toys; a couple new weapons you can find in version 1.8.

The Cross Vector is a .45 caliber SMG that uses an off-axis bolt travel system to achieve high rates of fire with reduced muzzle rise. With 30 rounds in each mag combined with one of the new .45 suppressors, you get a dangerous close range bullet hose.

For those who prefer slower harder hitting weapons, we have the new R-12 assault revolver just for you. This sidearm has 5 .50cal rounds on standby to deal a huge 135 damage per shot. Its short barrel keeps your range in check, but anyone that gets too close can be quickly dropped by this rare hand cannon.

Not only will you have new weapons, but a ton of new attachments as well. This includes suppressors for ARs and SMGs, an improvised craft-able suppressor, two 6x scopes, two new red dots, and extended pistol magazines!

Mirny will be getting some love this update as well with a handful of new POIs to explore around the map. Some of these are expansions and improvements to existing POIs, others are completely new locations to find!

Workbench crafting has been greatly expanded in 1.8, adding many new workbenches and items to craft. For example, the new explosives workbench is required to craft any explosive items, including new improvised explosive grenades.

This gives you more options while raiding, and also limits the crafting of raiding items to those who have already invested into a base themselves. With the new ammunition workbench, you can use metal scrap and gunpowder to craft ammunition of your choice. This allows you to stockpile ammo at your base without burning money at the safezone trader.

Other workbenches have been added as well, for example the advanced workbench is required for more complex crafting recipes. This is one area that we have already begun expanding in version 1.9 with a blueprint system, more info about that can be found on our Steam page.

For those who like to build nice looking bases, we have added a ton more base decoration items! There are too many items to list here, but the major ones are sloped roofs, weapon displays, and mannequins to display clothing and armor. We also have wall lighting, new trophies, flags, and wall signs!

Before we jump into the patch notes we think it's important to talk about some important features that are difficult to show in a screenshot, rebalances in particular. Since consoles are essentially getting three PC updates in one, lots of systems will be changing at once. We already mentioned that crafting has changed, but weapon balance, loot distribution, and AI logic have been adjusted as well. This was all done according to player feedback while adjusting gameplay with the new content added in 1.8.
Weapon balance is a big one, with some differences that you will feel immediately. Weapons are generally more accurate than before, with their range now being limited by damage drop-off over distance. The headshot damage multiplier is now specific to each weapon instead of being a flat value applied to each projectile, allowing for better individual weapon balance.
Durability has been increased as well since the repair system has been changed. Weapons now use parts specific to them when repaired at a repair bench. This means rare weapons are harder to maintain, while common ones are easier.
There are many more features that we could spend a long time covering, as a lot of work has been done in this update. But in order to keep this post a reasonable length they have been condensed down in the patch notes. We highly suggest you read through them though, there are some cool features in there like new weapon models and a mosin clip reload that artists spent a long time working on!
