Hello Deadsiders!
On June 8th at 10AM CEST / 3AM CDT, we will begin the release of update 1.9 to consoles!
This massive update introduces blueprints to the game; a whole new element to progression and crafting. Survival mechanics have been improved, new airdrops can be called down to your base, and you have a large map expansion with new areas to explore!
With such a large update bringing so many technical changes, a full wipe is required for all servers for the game to function correctly. During the release window we expect the update deployment to take 2-3 hours. Some console servers with low population will be closed during this window.
Here are just some of the features you can expect in version 1.9:
New blueprint progression and crafting system
Mirny map expansion
New signal flares that can be thrown to call airdrop variants to your location
Rebalanced weapon repair
Trader rebalance with random loot boxes
Rebalanced survival mechanics
New base modules and decorations
Version 1.9 is a major update that brings too many changes to talk about in this post, so let's cover the big features;
The feature that changes gameplay the most this update is easily blueprints. Now many items can be crafted using new items like the CNC Machine, but first you will need to research the blueprint for the item. This unlocks the ability to craft weapons, armor, attachments and more all at your base. Blueprints for weapons and armor can be upgraded, allowing you to craft more powerful versions.

In the early game basic blueprints can be found in many different lootboxes, for example car trunks, duffle bags, and garbage piles. These blueprints will unlock basic crafting recipes, like the bearing finder for example. You can use the bearing finder to dig up rare blueprints and loot, or you can complete gameplay events like missions, convoys, etc. If you find an item you would like to research, you can convert it into a blueprint by placing it inside the new Research Table.

This update also brings a large map expansion to Mirny, adding new POIs to explore as well as the addition of the Potny Islands to E6-7

An important new type of item added are Signal Flares, these can be found in the world or purchased from traders. You can throw them down to call down an airdrop right at your base! With four different variants, each type drops a different category of loot and blueprints.

We also have plenty of new base objects, from crafting machines to decorations. One new useful item is the fireplace, which cooks food quickly while also looking nice. Offset doors have been added as well, these were added to align well with stairs to make base navigation and building easier.
You can also expect improvements and changes to survival mechanics. Now when your character dies, your food and water stats are saved. This means if you spend the time to take care of your character, you can expect to retain those benefits for a while. Different types of meat now provide buffs that stack, each increasing the max amount of food for your character
There are tons of balance changes included in this update, including ground loot, AI balance, trader prices, the list goes on. For more details you can check the patch notes below, or this overview video Boots made when 1.9 dropped on PC.
